About Butler Library

Butler Library is located on the campus of Lindenwood University, in St. Charles, Missouri.

Butler Library was originally designed by LaBaume and Kline in honor of Margaret Leggat Butler, the wife of Colonel James Gay Butler, a generous Lindenwood University benefactor.

The Butler Library was founded on June 3, 1929;  the estimated price to construct the building was $200,000.00 dollars.  In 1968, new wings were added to the east and west ends of all three floors of the building.

The interior of the builidng is magnificent!

The craftsmanship of the woodwork is one of the things that attracts the users to Butler, along with Java201, Butler’s state of the art coffee bar.
